It’s been a long time between posts on here. My energy has been dedicated elsewhere recently. But I found this poem while sorting through old things that I apparently wrote around 2018. It seems timely to share today given the wild weather in parts of Queensland this week.
I asked the sea, What would you do? The sea showed me darkness, deep, wise waters Waters transparent, glittering with greens and blues It kept moving, connecting mud to mangrove, sand to dune It breathed deeply and fully Tearing at cliffs, angrily crumbling rocks with its fury It swept sand across bays and created havens of calm It lapped lazily against quiet shores The sea spoke to the fish, the coral and the seaweeds It rolled, waved, crashed, ebbed, flowed, tossed, washed and lay For all time It kept going Persisting onwards, patiently, slowly, living, giving And so, Should you, It replied.

One thing I’ve been working on lately is my new podcast, “We Grow”. The podcast is about biodiversity, community and getting involved in your local area. In the first short episode I explain what the podcast is about and in the second I explain the importance of biodiversity. The following episodes include conversations with people in my local area discussing topics related to the podcast theme. Episode three delves into the Sunshine Coast Biodiversity Report and explores some of the ways people can get involved in this region; however many of the actions are relevant to a wider audience too. In episode four, we explore forest therapy and different ways to interact with nature. I’ll be recording more episodes shortly, give me a follow on spotify or apple podcasts if you are interested in following along.
I’m writing more articles and posting content on Linkedin these days. You can follow or connect with me there if you’d like to.
Thanks for following my musings, poetry and meditations over the years!
Arohanui, lots of love,
Aleisha
