Welcome to The Aroha Adventures

Life is an adventure. Aroha1 1 (love) makes an adventurous life better. Join me as I share insights gained from reflecting on life, learning to teach yoga and meditation and trying to live authentically.

For me, living an adventurous life has often involved nature, travel, exploring the outdoors and sometimes getting myself into tricky situations. I’m learning that adventure can include all of these things, but also personal challenge, building stronger relationships, new business ventures, questioning the status quo and facing fears. Adventure is about ‘going to your edge’, as Sarah Wilson calls it in her book ‘this one wild and precious life’.

Why aroha? Well firstly, I like the way the word rolls off my tongue, ah-ro (as in raw)-ha. Aroha is an integral part of living a full and authentic life. I learnt this best during the year I spent teaching Burmese migrants in Ranong, Thailand. When you strip away material possessions, civil liberties and the ability to speak a common language, you find that love connects people together. Reflecting on this at the time, I realised that All You Need is Love.

About me

I am a sustainability educator and yoga teacher, who enjoys adventures, nature and writing. I’ve worked as an environmental scientist for many years and have been blogging about sustainability and ethical issues for the last few at An Ethical Yarn.

I believe living a more sustainable, happy and healthy life is dependent upon better understanding ourselves and connecting with nature and others. Through many life experiences including travelling and working in different countries, completing a Master of Science in Education for Sustainability and becoming a certified yoga teacher, I’ve begun to realise that people are at the very heart the many interlinked environmental, social, health and economic crises we find ourselves in. This means that we are also part of the solution!

By writing this newsletter, I plan to use creativity and wellness as a foundation to inspire, connect and evolve.

What to expect

This newsletter will contain my reflections on all of the above as I embody teaching yoga and mediation, launching my social enterprise Community Changemakers and living an authentic life of love and adventure.

Expect updates to include written musings, poetry and short meditations delivered straight to your inbox, which are all currently free to subscribe to by clicking on the link below.
