This poem featured as part of a meditation that I guided at a community campout earlier in the year. The meditation theme was community, connecting as people, connecting with the earth community. It was twilight, the light shone golden, filtering lazily through the trees and reflecting off a nearby pond. Birds sang their evening chorus and the intense January heat settled slightly.
Together We welcome We accept We hold each other Sharing And learning Together We are A part Of the Earth Community Blades of grass and tree roots The air we inhale and the rain that falls from the sky Crawling ants and biting mosquitoes Boisterous dogs and blaring birds Soaring mountains and raging rivers Gentle children and wise elders All are connected All are welcome All belong One community Together
